Introducing ta da…

Over the last few months we have been working on several ideas on how to re-brand our business. The first thing that we knew we wanted was to come up with a new logo that stayed true to our traditions of a classic look but with more of a contemporary twist. We had several people give us some their ideas but I didn’t like anything.
A couple of months ago I hired Blaire, she had recently graduated with a design major and during the interview she showed me her portfolio.http://canslerblog.com/2009/09/a-new-face-at-cansler-photography/ I was impressed with her designs and felt she had a good eye. Because of some of the creative things she had done I was already thinking that she could play around when she had the time and come up with a new logo design.
I gave her some design goals and then let her go to it. Well here it is, this will be the new logo for Cansler Photography. We will be using just Cansler in all of our marketing from now on. We made the switch to just Cansler several years ago with our high school senior marketing and have been wanting to do the same for our portrait division. As in the past we will still be using our more contemporary and cool logo for our senior market.

We’ll Do Anything to Make a Baby Smile
Posted on 28. Oct, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
Brad and I drove out to Chickamauga Lake to do a photo session with the Coffelt family. It was a perfect day and we knew we were going to get some really great shots with the sun just about to disappear. The best part about my job is getting out of the office and getting outside on pretty days, which seem to be few and far between these days with all the rain. While the family was getting ready, Brad and I were setting up all our equipment and playing fetch with a couple of persistent dogs (I later learned that they will play fetch for hours!) All three kids did great and you could really see how much the two big sisters, Kate and Ellis, love and care for their new baby brother, Carter. However, we had to pull out all the stops in order to get Carter to smile and look at the camera. Brad was making every kind of animal noise he could think of, definitely getting some smiles out of Carter and everyone else! I have to admit they are pretty funny. At one point Brad was making noises, taking pictures and throwing the stick for the eager dog at his feet, all at the same time, talk about a multi-tasker. Even the parents joined in on the silly fun and really made the kids smile when we were just getting some photographs of the three of them. It is so nice to see a family getting along so well, really caring for each other and most importantly having fun!So, after some great shots of the family on a blanket in the grass we moved over to the dock. This time instead of chasing the sun like we normally do we were waiting for it to go down. We had about 5 minutes after the sun went down to get some photos of the family on their dock, so everyone was waiting perfectly in position. They were really patient while we were waiting for the sun that was blinding them in the eyes to go down and relieve them! Once it finally said goodnight we captured some great candid photos of all the family looking at Carter, the latest addition. It was such a pleasure doing a session with the Coffelts; they are so sweet and full of love!

Graffiti Walls Make for Great Photographs, Lesson Learned
Posted on 23. Oct, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
We started bright and early, pretty much just after the sun had come up, but I was excited to do Abby’s session! She had brought a lot of interesting and fun outfits. Bright colors, cool patterns, fun jewelry and a contagious smile, all of these are a fantastic combination for photographs. We put together some awesome outfits and headed outside.
We did a couple shots around the studio, but Brad wanted to do something more edgy with Abby. We packed up the car and drove down the street to an old abandoned warehouse. This is when Abby’s mom didn’t quite get where Brad’s creative vision was going. As we tromped through the weeds over to the graffiti wall she seamed really worried that Brad was nuts because she really loved the coral jacket Abby had on and wanted to make sure we got a perfect picture. I told her not to worry and to have faith and sure enough look how amazing these pictures turned out! We then moved on to more fun outfits.
We did some stuff inside the studio with these neat glass earrings Abby had, but then moved outside again and over to Coolidge park. She had this great flower dress and her mom wanted some pictures of Abby with the bridges. We were able to create some really soft and very pretty shots down by the water.
This is where things got interesting and we literally started chasing the sun. Chattanooga has the most amazing sunsets with gorgeous purple and pink clouds and we wanted to get the perfect sunset shot on the pedestrian bridge. Abby did wonderful, even with a ton of people walking past and starring at her, we recorded some killer shots. But, even though the sun was gone, we weren’t done YET! We rushed over to the art museum’s big white columns, hoping not to set off any alarms, and with the purple sky and moon in the background we captured Abby in a beautiful white dress. It was a perfect ending to a perfect photo session.
So, after we wrapped up the two sessions we were pretty pleased with the amazing photos we got and, to say the least, Abby and her parents were too! I can’t even wait to work on her book.

I agree that these photos certainly bring out Abby’s energy and personality, and so beautiful! Unique shots you expect to find done in New York.
