Because Everyone Wants To Make Mom Happy
Posted on 13. Jul, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
Mitchell came in today with his mom for his Basic session. This is fairly typical with the high school senior guys we photograph. Are they as excited as the girls? Usually not, but most of them have one thing in common. They know this is going to really make their mom happy, so they cooperate with minimal kicking and screaming. (I’m exaggerating, but only slightly)
Mitchell brought his one casual outfit, but I’m not sure if he’ll be wearing it out to dinner with friends or on a date anytime soon. Why, you may ask? He brought gear for his swim team. He also had some great ideas for what he wanted his photographs to look like. We built off of those ideas, and we ended up with some really different looking shots unlike anything we had done before with one of our seniors.
We knew it was a stretch, but we managed to squeeze in one more outfit. Well, it was a make shift outfit but still a different look. So he lost the suit and tie we had to have for his formal yearbook pose, and ended up with a little more traditional casual outfit if you will. They turned out great!
The session was a great success for three reasons:
1. Mom is going to have so much fun seeing all the great shots we got, and going to have fabulous senior portraits of Mitchell.
2. Mitchell didn’t end up having a terrible time (even though he says he hates being photographed), and I think he’ll really like a lot of the shots that were his idea!
and finally on a selfish note…
3. Brad and I have cool stuff to share with all of you!
It was a win win for everyone.

Urban Themes before Jet Setting Dreams
Posted on 09. Jul, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
Leslie came in for part 1 of her Ultimate Session the other day, and as always we were scheming to try something new or shoot some new locations. We knew the other half of her session we were doing around and at her home when she got back from Hawaii. Doesn’t that sound like she has an amazing To Do List…
1. Go start senior portrait session
2. Look gorgeous in all my pics
3. Jet away to Hawaii: play in ocean and maybe grab a little tan
4. Finish senior portrait session
5. Look gorgeous in my pics again.
Leslie and her mom made my life so easy by already having all of their outfit options coordinated and organized. Ahhhh I love being organized, and I love even more meeting people who share my over zealous organization tendencies. We are a rare breed. It also didn’t hurt that Leslie has a great sense of style. A style that Brad and I couldn’t help but want to show off. So we decide to go for a more urban feel in this first part of Leslie’s session. We headed downtown, and it just came naturally. She had so many cool shots to choose from it was so hard to only pick a few to share with all of you. I hope you all enjoy!

Trash The Dress…Take 2
Posted on 07. Jul, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
Meghan was one of the first people to comment on our Facebook page about wanting to do a trash the dress session! I could tell she was super excited, and couldn’t wait to get it scheduled! (Which just makes me more excited to get started on her session!)
She brought in two GORGEOUS prom dress, but of course my inner princess leaned toward using the super poofy blue one. It just screamed Cinderella at me. It also didn’t hurt that Meghan looked fabulous in it as well. We head to a spot by our favorite fountains, and started on our dry looks. I’m absolutely in love with the one of her sitting in the gazebo! It took us a second to get her dress to not look completely like a cupcake, but the final product made it worth the fuss!
We hopped over to our fountains, Meghan just hopped right in. I loved the fearless attitude, even when we saw a frog in the water! We had so much fun, and I had to share these great shots with all of you.
