With a Little Help From My Friends

The 2009 Home Decor Show just ended and I wanted to share how much I appreciate the people that helped make it a success. I think my first real introduction to Tim Bryant was several years ago when a new client came in to talk with me about doing portraits of her children. She told me that she was meeting with her decorator and that he had told her she needed a portrait of her kids over her fireplace. Then she went on to say that he told her that there was only one person for the job and that was Brad Cansler. After that I figured I needed to get to know this decorator! Tim has helped me out over the last couple of years with my Home Show display and it has been greatly appreciated. When we were talking about the upcoming show he said he would like to have something striking and contemporary for his display. We discussed the colors that he was showcasing and I decided to do something I have never done before. Recently at a trade show for the photographic industry I had seen a new product that caught my eye and I thought that it would be perfect for Tim’s display. As per normal for me everything was at the last minute but my lab came through and I received it right before the show opened. It so happens that the subject in the image is one of my favorite people. I have been photographing Lexi since she was 6 monthes old. Since she and her family are huge VOLS fans it seemed appropriate to photograph her in a orange sweater! This color just happened to be perfect for what Tim was doing.Tim2883Tim2909Tim’s booth looked awesome(as usual) so for those of you who didn’t make it by, enjoy these images.Tim2890Tim2900Tim2902Tim2905

A Whole lot of Work!

We just finished with the 2009 Fall Home Decor Show at the Chattanooga Convention Center. My intention was to share images with you each day but as is typical for these type of events everything that could go wrong did. So the construction took much longer than intended and I was just too tired to post. How is that for an excuse?

When we arrived someone had messed up and we were in a booth space that would not work for the set that we had designed. After standing around waiting for what seemed forever(actually it wasn’t that long) we were told that we would have to move to a different aisle and location.  Then we began construction. Those of you who have been by our display at the Spring Home Show wouldn’t recognize the new display so we thought you might get a kick out of seeing what it looked liked. I know it looks like it went fast it didn’t.

We went with more of a gallery look to our display as opposed to more of a room like the spring show. At the show some of the comments from clients were that they liked the new look. Let us know what you think.

LOOKS SO GOOD! Fun memories of learning how to use power tools, wall putty, paint and staple guns. I think I am ready to build a house!

Poor Syd, she was really a trooper. We were at the trade center until 12:30 am. The van was parked in front of the booth so I put her in the front seat and said close your eyes. When we left for home, my car was right outside so I walked her out the door and into the car; she said she didn’t remember anything.

Amazing! I just love this look. They say when you are doing what you love it shows. Well, your passion for your work is apparent. Not only in your “to perfection” photos, but, even in your displays of these works of art. Great job!!

The Flu Experience

This past weekend Helen and I both got a stomach flu bug at the same time. Both of us were sick most of the night and the next day. Sydney our daughter had to fend for herself because neither her mother or I could do anything. As I lay in bed drifting in and out there were moments of loopiness and lucidity. I kept thinking this too shall pass and wondering how some people who are very ill manage with such grace and dignity. I kept thinking wow I am such a wuss and I can’t even move. I knew I needed to drink to rehydrate but I just wanted to lay there. Obviously I forced myself to down the proper liquids because I am 100% better today and very thankful that it only lasted a short while.
