Looking for something different

Katie’s session started like all our senior sessions, by looking through clothes and deciding what to use and then choosing a background that was complimentary. She brought several cute things but we started off with the formal drape. Mom wanted a classic portrait to display in her home. Once we got the traditional portrait done, we went outdoors because the first casual outfit cried out to be outside.
Photographing seniors is a lot of fun and hard work. One of the things we pride ourselves on is doing as many unique looks for each person and sometimes this is very challenging. Katie had this fun purple dress that I wanted to photograph her in so we went into the sunroom because the colors would look good together. Of course, my favorite photograph is the one that is so closeup you can’t even see the dress she had on. Oh well.
We finished up with a couple of images upstairs in front of the dressing room. When mom and dad came in to decide what they wanted they had to have both of them.

Terrible 3’s? Not Today
Posted on 22. Oct, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
Well I guess we are on a roll. I mentioned in another post about how I thought it was the terrible threes not the terrible twos. Well, I may have to eat my words; we just did our second three year old session in a week and she was great too. Wow, maybe I am living right.
Lisa called to schedule her second child’s session and we discussed that she wanted to do something similar to what I had done of her oldest daughter. So we found a time that worked for both of us. She said sometimes her littlest can be shy. Not today, she did great. It was a little chilly but she stood on the steps like a trouper and we were able to get the photographs quickly. The only problem was that mom had a hard time deciding on which ones to get.I told Blaire as we drove away, don’t get too used to perfect three year olds, they aren’t always. Being a parent I know how quickly a little angel can turn into something a little less desirable. I know that it has been said before, but this is why I love kids, their unpredictability. That may sound crazy and yes sometimes it drives me a little nuts but it makes for a livey time. The one thing I can say about photographing children – it is never dull.
At the last minute we threw mom into the photograph for a sweet finish,(just like dessert).

The Tiny Angel
Posted on 21. Oct, 2009 by Cansler Photography.
Paula called to schedule a session for her newborn daughter a few weeks ago with the target of photographing her when she was ten days old. This type of session is one of my favorites. For all of you who have had children you remember how fast they grow up. Well, when they are a couple of weeks old they change daily. The fun thing about capturing them at 10 days to two weeks is how tiny they are in relationship to how big they will be even at 3 months. We had photographed Paula and Steve’s twins when they were 17 days old but they were a little early, so wanted to do photographs that would be complimentary of the new addition so we scheduled for 11 days old.
She even opened her eyes for a couple of shots. When we had photographed the twins at 17 days one of the twins wouldn’t close her eyes and the other refused to open hers! According to mom they are still like that at 5 years old.
