A Pro Model at 5!
Posted on 10. Mar, 2010 by Cansler Photography.
The first child model for our Strasburg Model Search was an absolute doll! Kylie was a little shy at first, sticking close to Mom and Nina, her name for her grandmother. But with Brad making silly noises and goofy faces we started to see some smiles.
She became good friends with our fuzzy, hot pink bird puppet. Once she saw it we had to talk her out of holding it during the rest of the session! Brad bribed her with a teddy bear, but as soon as he finished, she wanted the bird back.
During the session her Mom told us that she asked to participate in the search; she wants to be a model. At age five I think Kylie has found her calling! A perfect princess, she followed Brad’s instructions to the letter: “Move your chin down just a tad,” and “Turn towards Miss Laura,” were done as if she was a pro.
When the three lovely ladies returned to view the portraits from the session, Kylie brought in two handwritten notes with hearts on them for Brad and me to say thank you. I told you she was adorable! Kylie’s session went beautifully. We have some wonderful portraits of a sweet little girl.
Oh! And Kylie would like everyone to know that her photographer’s name is Brad. In case any model scouts are out there.

Come And Play!
Posted on 05. Mar, 2010 by Cansler Photography.
We get to spend a whole month photographing adorable children! I’ll get to all the details in a minute but I just have to say something first. All I heard when Brad told me we were looking for child models was, “I get to play!” A session with a child is so different than one with a family or adults.
You joke with them, play with toys, basically you get to be a kid yourself again. Once a child decides you are a friend, all the walls come down and the personality shows through. And that is when we take the photograph.
So……… here are the details.
In partnership with Strasburg Children, we are looking for boys and girls to model current Strasburg fashions. The portraits chosen by Strasburg Corporate will be featured in a rotating in-store display and a coffee table book. Once we schedule a session, e-mail us a snapshot of your child wearing the outfit(s) you have chosen; all we ask is that they be something from the current line, nothing on clearance please! Limit of two outfits. The sessions must take place between March 15th and April 15th. We have limited times available so call soon! The registration fee gets you the session and a 5×7 miniature portrait of the photograph of your choice – a two for one special just for Strasburg models. Additional portraits from the session may be purchased, however a purchase is not required to participate. Limited sessions available. Call us at (423)756-2681 to schedule, we’re filling up fast!

Rhapsody in Blue
Posted on 02. Feb, 2010 by Cansler Photography.
Currently we are working with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Orchestra on a major project for the upcoming Oh, What A Night! CSO Guild Gala April 24, 2010. You will have to stay tuned for the lowdown on everything we are working on. Margaret Green from the CSO Guild is my liaison
and when she mentioned they were going to need publicity photographs for the Gala, I jumped at the chance to help. That was even before I knew that they wanted to photograph a lovingly restored, 1953 blue Cadillac convertible with Paula & Carl Henderson, the General Chairs of the Gala.
Well, we finally got to do the photographs; Carl and Paula Henderson were very gracious and fun to work with. Chet Tschetter the owner of the car and Jim Oxford owner of Jim’s Quality Restorations went out of their way to accommodate my whims. The car is not quite running yet; it dosen’t have seats or a soft top but for the look we wanted it was perfect. Anyone of you who has ever had to push one of those old cars out of the mud knows how heavy they are. Jim and Chet with Jim’s crew gamely pushed the car outside and into the position that the cantankerous photographer (me) wanted. They got the angle just right. It was a tad chilly but our world famous models were true professionals in every way. They pretended that it was a warm and balmy day instead of breezy and quite cool.
We finished as quickly as possible so Paula and Carl could put their coats back on. A huge thank you to everyone involved. My only regret is that I didn’t have a way to take video during the positioning of the car for this posting, it was fun to watch. Chet Tschetter was kind enough to take a couple of images of us doing the photographs. Thanks Chet and a big thank you for letting us use your car. If you want to really see the car in all its glory, you’re just going to have to attend Oh, What A Night! on April 24, 2010.
