Black Tie Football

We were getting a few “What ARE these people doing?” looks from Taylor in the first minutes of his senior session with us. But he soon realized we’re just crazy. And that’s because I suggested we have him pose with his football in his suit (we also had him mimic the Heisman pose but Brad left it out of this post so if you want to see it make sure to leave a comment; maybe I can talk Brad into posting it!)! Anyway, I think it’s a nice change from the expected football and jersey combo. And yes, we took some of those too.
So once we got Taylor to crack up with us we moved on to the serious stuff. Yes, you read that right. You have to break the ice with the goofy things then move to serious faces. Otherwise people look stiff and uncomfortable. And since that’s not how Taylor looks in everyday life, that’s not what we’re going for. So here are a few that Mom loves. Nice, classic senior portraits.
Oh! And one more for the football fans out there!

A Sweetheart

This is Megan. And she’s just as adorable as she looks; a complete sweetheart. Her session was split into pieces so we could get this awesome variety. She was completely open to anything and any suggestion so we played around with her shoot a LOT! We went to her family lake….downtown for the graffiti….just anywhere Brad got a wild hair to go. He even had us tromping through an overgrown field to get to a cool spot at one point! (That’s the graffiti shot) And Megan just went along with us, not complaining once.
And she photographs so well! I think she’s beautiful in these. And it’s too bad we can’t put ALL of her images on the blog. The entire collection is stunning. But the small glimpse we’re showing here is enough to give a good idea. I honestly don’t think we had a bad image of this girl. Just look!!
We’ve got her in a prom dress, on a float, wearing sunglasses, in a muddy lake… just for contrast. This is our trash the dress session! Then she has the “pretty” dress photo. Everything is perfectly in place and perfectly gorgeous.
Of course the causal shots……
And a classic with a twist black and white……… Brad uses a special lens for this look.

Early Morning Beauty

Rebecca’s dad called to schedule a segment of her Ultimate senior session. I knew we were going to do some images at their home because when I had photographed Rebecca’s brother several years ago we had done several cool images at their home. Dad and I set up a date in the evening but a little later he called back and asked if we could make it in the morning. He said mom loves the fog coming off the lake this time of year, I said sure but I need you to tell me what time the sun breaks over the trees. Well we scheduled the session for 7:00am! When we arrived for the session it was still dark out but we took the opportunity to choose clothing for what we were going to be doing. The great thing about going to clients homes is that I get to raid their closet and pick out exactly what I want for the different looks. The dawn was just starting to break so we went to the lake and created several images before the sun broke the tree line. After that we had a clothing change and went to the barn. Mom was giving me a hard time because she said she expected me to just run up and take a couple of shots. Well she should have known better, we lugged our lighting equipment up the ladder to the hayloft and proceeded to have fun with a very different look.
Lastly we went down to the creek to capture the beautiful light of early morning. So far I haven’t mentioned that it was very cool. When we arrived at the creek the thermometer had climbed all the way up to 41 degrees! Anyway Rebecca was tough and preceded to pretend that it was warm.
