Everything is Different – Prom 2011

I have know Ian since he was a little tyke (around 2years old).  I had talked with mom and dad about doing Ian’s senior photographs and we finally got them scheduled. What a trip be able to watch all these kids grow up into young adults. In spite of  feeling old because of the changes I have seen in them through the years it is wonderful to be able to create new images that reflect who they are becoming.

Anyway, mom called and said “I know you don’t do prom pictures but” (as we all know “but” negates anything that has come before) “would you please do a couple of photographs of Ian and his girlfriend Kayla”.  I said sure since I will be working at the studio come by and we can do a couple of images. Well anybody that knows me will understand that I don’t know what a couple of photographs means so as usual I got carried away. Ian and Kayla were wonderful sports and we ended up with a lot of great shots. Here are “couple” of them.

David and Tara came by our booth at the Tri-State Home Show this spring and talked with me about doing photographs of the two of them. Their kids are grown and they wanted some images to celebrate their relationship. We talked about what they liked to do and what they enjoyed together. We decided to to do some traditional portraits outside but in addition to that to also do something with them interacting with each other enjoying a glass of wine. I loved the idea, you know the whole “a loaf bread and thou” thing.

When we were discussing the session it was cold and bleak outside so obviously we had to wait for spring. The session was scheduled several months in advance and finally the day arrived. We had a lot of fun, the temperature was perfect and the lighting was slightly hazy give everything a soft look. Thanks David and Tara for letting us create something memorable for you.

CSO Celebrity Guest Conductors

Late last year Margaret Green called with a new idea for the CSO guild to raise money for the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera. She told me what they were wanting to do and asked if I would be willing to take some simple headshots for the local celebrities who would be competing. Of course I said NO! Well, not exactly, what I really said is no I am not interested in doing simple headshots but why don’t we do something cool that you can use for better publicity.

Of course she liked the sound of that and that is exactly what we did. {They ended up being run in the paper and in Chatter Magazine). So after she got her confirmations on the celebrities we had the pleasure of doing something that would be reflective of their individual personalities. Scheduling was tough but once they came to the studio we had fun doing some personality images. I had a blast and all my subjects were game for anything we came up. Congrats to all of them they all did a fantastic job and the fund raiser was a incredible success, way, way over the goal!
