Do you know these facts about Thanksgiving? I didn’t…..

1. At the first Thanksgiving the Pilgrims ate lobster, seal, swan, deer…… and absolutely NO SWEETS!! The sugar supply had run out so no cakes, pies or┬ádesserts.

2. The celebration lasted THREE days. And you think its hard to eat that much at one meal!

3. In 1827 Sarah Josepha Hale, author of ‘Mary had a little Lamb’, began a campaign to make Thanksgiving a national holiday.

4. Abraham Lincoln created Thanksgiving in 1863, designating the last Thursday of November as the official date.

5. Every year, the President ‘pardons’ one or two turkeys who are spared the oven and ‘retired’ to a farm in the country/
