Lights…Glamour…ACTION!
Lexi is not only our 2010 senior ambassador for Baylor, but she is a long time client here at Cansler. So while taking a moment to reminisce about childhood sessions was a must, we were pumped to try something new! The funny thing is when you start something new sometimes you take inspiration from something old, and that is exactly what happened with Lexi’s session.
Our lighting for some of Lexi’s shots definitely had an old Hollywood feel of drama and glamour! The gorgeous formal dress she brought only added more punch to the portrait! We finished in the studio with some silly shots that were just Lexi having fun and well, being Lexi! Outside we were able to get the weather to cooperate with a little bit longer, and ended up with some great shots of Lexi in true Tennessee fan style sporting Go Big Orange heels and matching sweater perfect for any fall game day!

An Afternoon with Anna-Carson

I can’t even begin to explain how excited Brad and I are to start working with the Class of 2010! I can tell you though that if our first session with our new GPS ambassador Anna-Carson is a prediction of things to come…the class of 2010 better get ready to have some of the most unique and AWESOME senior portraits ever!

We started our session with Anna-Carson in studio. As if picking out and being photographed in some of her favorite looks wasn’t enough to make for a fun start to a session, throw in a iPod with some Taylor Swift, fun with our wind machine, and Brad’s killer posing techniques, and let’s just say things got a little silly.
Next, we gathered our gear and headed down to some new locations to see if we couldn’t mix something pretty with something gritty for Anna-Carson’s ballet shots, but we weren’t done yet! We still needed something bold and fun to match her personality with her portraits, and we made sure the next location definitely did just that!

Hollywood Lighting

Yeah, yeah, I know, the idea behind having a blog is that you go out there and write stuff. Well I’m finally back. I’ve been spending a lot of time on a new lighting technique using new lights and a new camera.
I’m not an equipment freak, so contrary to the opinion of some of those close to me, I am not constantly out there buying the latest and greatest in new equipment. However, in this digital age, there are some kinds of photography that I really wanted to take to another level and my new camera has allowed me to do that. The new lighting is really fun. I have been interested in doing the old “Hollywood” lighting for a long time. These new lights really allow me let my clients “shine” – pun intended. It is so fun creating these dramatic looks yet they have a beautiful soft quality about them that I have always been fascinated with. Here are a couple examples that I hope yo
u enjoy as much as I do. I plan on experimenting with these lights and two people in the image next.
