Daddy’s Girls

Abigail and Madison came in with their dad and grandmother as part of our Father’s Day Sample Promotion. We decide to do some sweet shots of the girls with their dad Greg in the front room and then brainstormed on something fun we could finish with. I don’t know if it was the heat upstairs in that room, but we were just stumped for a moment on how to capture that playful side of Dad and the girls. We knew we wanted them all looking at one another, but after that things got a little fuzzy. We got them into position, and like magic it happened. “It” is when Greg started tickling the girls, and everyone got the giggles.

“I’m going to invade your personal space.”

This was honestly one of the first things I said to Katie after meeting her. No, I wasn’t trying to start the session off by sounding like a creep, but just to forewarn her that yes, I was going to be playing with her hair, tugging on her clothes, and basically adjusting her as necessary.
She came in with just a few extra clothing items, a fresh face, and a fun attitude! Katie is definitely a girl after my own heart. I decided quickly if she were a cake her ingredients would be
1 part girly girl
1 part no fuss no muss
1 part accessories (the girl had a bag of just rings; I love it!)
(It’s the end of the day, and I naturally revert to comparing everything to food because I’m starving.)
Back to the subject. The wind was blowing outside, which kept us cool in the shade and made for some great shots of Katie with her gorgeous long hair blowing in the breeze. I really also think that after the initial shock of have all eyes on her posing and looking cute, Katie had a blast during her shoot.

Trash the Dress

The trash the dress session was a total blast! It was totally different from anything I had ever seen or even heard of doing for prom dress pictures. It was sooo hot outside and the water felt great. I literally got to play in the fountains… in a prom dress!
It was awesome. 
I think it was so opposite of what is expected when wearing a prom dress. I got my hair wet and had fun, and I didn’t worry about posing and looking perfect. People were looking at us like we were crazy, but we didn’t care! This was honestly the most fun I’ve had having portraits made/playing in fountains. Brad and Peggy made everything so comfortable and fun! I can’t wait to see the rest of them.
