Children are priceless and the importance of having family portraits taken is unmeasurable. It isn’t just for the parents, but for your children as well… As a photographer, I understand this concept. Taking portraits isn’t just to preserve memories, but to show a family’s love for one another. I also understand that a family portrait hung on the wall is a powerful tool to raise our children with stronger self-esteem and a sense of belonging. I recently read a study that correlated family and personal photography to children strongly feeling as if they are valued and belong. When they see themselves with their family in a portrait it creates a feeling of safeness. Knowing this, could you imagine filling the space on your walls with anything other? As a parent, I couldn’t agree more that putting family portraits on our walls is the best “art” money can buy.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day has just come and gone. What a wonderful day it was to celebrate the one who means most to us, but why do we celebrate them for only one day? The sacrifices they have made for us are worth far more than just one day. We should be creating memories with our fathers every single day. There are some memories you have with him that will never be forgotten like his hands holding your bike as he taught you how to ride it, the first sporting event he took you to, the look on his face when he was about to walk you down the aisle. One day you will wish you could see that grin on his face just one more time. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Capture the moment in a Cansler portrait.

Don’t Wait for Someday

You don’t want to wait to spend quality time with your family, you don’t want to wait to take your children to see the world so why do you want to wait to capture precious portraits? Some of my most cherished memories are getaways with my family. I imagine that several others feel the same as I do. I can’t wait for the quality time we get to spend and the places we will get to see. In the heart of summer don’t forget to cherish the ones you love and also cherish the extra time your kids have to spend at home.
Don’t spend all of your time waiting for “someday”, and forget to capture today…
A good reminder that spending quality time with your family is irreplaceable. What are your family summer plans?
