Wanted to share an image from a session yesterday. The Sears family kindly agreed to come in for me to photograph them and their son and daughter for the upcoming Heart Gala. The little boy was born with a congenital heart defect and so far in his short 5 years has had twenty three surgeries. His skin has a tendency to have a bluish cast because he doesn’t get enough oxygen. He was amazing, one of the happiest and sweetest little boys I have had the opportunity to photograph.

Whenever I meet someone like him it reminds me that no matter what the circumstances of our life we have the ability to choose to enjoy it. He was so friendly, outgoing and a big hugger!

Hope this reminds everyone of how much you have to be thankful for and to take the time to show those important people in your life how much you appreciate them.

A Christmas Surprise

I haven’t posted in a while for a couple of reasons number one I have been busy before the holidays. Then I surprised my wife and daughter with a trip to St Maarten, NV / St Martin, FWI. Helen and my anniversaray is on December the 31st and for our 15th anniversary I had surprised her with a trip to St Maarten. She didn’t know about the trip until we were headed to the airport as I had packed all her clothes and pretended that we were just going out.

This year we were celebrating our 32nd anniversary and I thought we should go again(we have been there since that first time but it had been a few years). So Christmas morning Helen and Sydney only got one present from me, a box with tickets and brochures of where we would be staying.

Normally I don’t like to carry all my camera stuff on vacation but thought this would be a fun opportunity to do some cool mother/daughter portraits so wanted to share a few with you.

On Christmas Eve I went to the studio to take photographs of Helen’s family. Well we ended up starting late and everyone was starving so we did some quick portraits of the family. I wanted something more artsy but starving relatives precluded taking the time. Here are a couple of the results.
